Innovative Leadership & Civic Engagement

At Breckinridge, innovation meets opportunity! We are excited to have established Kentucky’s first Innovative Leadership & Civic Engagement magnet program, which is designed to inspire self-discovery, build confidence, and motivate our students to make a difference in their community and beyond.

Authentic inquiry-based projects bridge learning content to students’ lived experiences and local communities. Students also explore their passions, talents, interests, and aspirations to become critical and competently engaged members of their communities. We provide rigorous, engaging instruction and enrichment experiences to develop well-rounded, self-reliant students prepared for college, careers, and civic life. 

Program Highlights

Leadership Development: Empowering students to become effective leaders through project-based learning and mentorship opportunities; and developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills

Civic Engagement: Inspiring students to actively participate in their communities by exploring social issues and developing real-world solutions; and fostering an understanding of civic responsibility and the value of service

Self-Discovery and Confidence Building: Encouraging students to explore their interests and talents in a supportive and nurturing environment; and building resilience and self-esteem through collaborative and individualized learning experiences
